GARNA Hosts Free Public Program on Arkansas River Voluntary Flow Management

The Greater Arkansas River Nature Association (GARNA) is hosting a free community program titled “What is the Voluntary Flow Management Program?” on Tuesday, May 28, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Valley View Nature Learning Center, located on Chaffee County Road 140.

The event will feature a presentation by Bob Hamel, a key figure in managing the Voluntary Flow Management Program (VFMP). This collaborative agreement helps balance the needs of downstream water users, recreational stakeholders, and state and federal agencies in managing the flow of the Arkansas River—especially during the critical summer boating season.
