Here’s a look at what’s happening in the area this weekend:
- Community Awards – Tonight
The Chaffee County Community Foundation, Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce, and the Central Mountain Small Business Development Center will host the annual Community Awards tonight at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds.
The event honors dedicated volunteers, nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and other community champions. The evening includes live award presentations, an Italian dinner, a cash bar, and an opportunity to gather and celebrate local impact.
- FIBArk Announces 2026 Co-Commodores – Saturday
FIBArk will announce its 2026 Co-Commodores tomorrow from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Boathouse Cantina.
Terry and Chuck Deveney will share Commodore duties for the upcoming whitewater festival. Chuck served on the FIBArk board from 2011 to 2013, while Terry served from 2013 to 2019. This marks the first time in FIBArk history that joint Commodores are being honored.
- Cripple Creek Ice Festival
The Cripple Creek Ice Festival continues this weekend with vendors and activities scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The festival is free and open to the public.
- “Proof” on Stage in Salida
The Salida Theater Project presents the play “Proof” tonight and tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at A Church, 419 D Street in Salida.
Tickets are $18 online at salidatheaterproject.com or $20 at the door.
- Good Pet/Bad Portrait Fundraiser Begins
The Good Pet/Bad Portrait fundraiser benefiting the Ark Valley Humane Society begins today.
For a $25 donation, participants can submit a photo of their pet and receive a one-of-a-kind portrait created by a volunteer artist. Artists range in age from 5 years old and up, making each portrait a unique surprise.
