The Custer County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with local organizations to distribute free frozen hot dogs to the community on Tuesday, following a semi-truck rollover on Highway 69 earlier this week.
The rollover occurred Monday near Westcliffe. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The trucking company involved said the frozen products, although still safe, could no longer be sold commercially, and offered to donate them instead.
The Custer County School and Alta convenience store helped keep the products frozen overnight. Sheriff’s deputies coordinated the community distribution of the hot dogs the following day.
The Sheriff’s Office shared the news on social media, thanking everyone who helped make the unexpected donation a successful and positive event for the community.
