Jon Hallford, who owned Return to Nature Funeral Home in Penrose with his then wife Carie Hallford, has pleaded guilty to hundreds of charges related to the mishandling of human remains.
In December, Jon and Carie Hallford pleaded guilty to 200 counts of corpse abuse under a plea agreement with prosecutors. The case drew statewide and national attention after authorities uncovered extensive misconduct at the funeral home.
Under the agreement, Jon Hallford faces between 30 and 50 years in prison on state charges. Carie Hallford is expected to be sentenced in April and faces a potential sentence of 25 to 35 years.
In addition to the pending state sentence, Jon Hallford has already been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison on related charges.
The case remains one of the most serious funeral home abuse cases prosecuted in Colorado, with sentencing proceedings still ongoing.
