Flu Season has Started Earlier this Year Than Usual

If you are one of those people who sometimes waits until later in the season to get your annual flu shot, local public health authorities encourage you to get it earlier this year.

Flu symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, runny nose, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Because flu and COVID can have similar symptoms, it is a good idea to keep a COVID test at home to rule out COVID if you develop symptoms. COVID-19 cases have been creeping up recently too, with 72 known cases reported in the Valley in the past week.

Colorado is also experiencing an increase in another respiratory virus, RSV, which can be serious for young children and older adults. Please use reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of respiratory illness.

Flu shots are in limited supply on the COVID-19 buses. Most pharmacies have and are able to give flu vaccines. Reach out to your primary care provider or local public health department to find out where to get a flu shot or go to www.vaccines.gov/find-vaccines/.
