Flu cases are climbing across Colorado, raising concerns among public health officials as the state enters the heart of flu season.

According to data from Colorado Public Health, there are currently 465 flu-related hospitalizations statewide. That number is more than three times higher than what was reported during the same week last year, signaling a sharp increase in severe cases.

At the same time, flu vaccination rates among adults ages 18 and older have declined slightly, a trend that could contribute to the spread of illness. Health experts continue to stress that vaccination remains one of the most effective tools for preventing serious complications from the flu.

Officials also emphasize everyday prevention measures to help slow transmission. Washing hands frequently, covering your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and staying home when sick can significantly reduce the spread of the virus.

With flu activity expected to remain high in the coming weeks, public health leaders are urging Coloradans to take precautions to protect themselves, their families, and vulnerable members of the community.
