Salida, CO- Salida Fire Department (SFD) responded to a working structure fire at 821 ½ E Street at 5:15am on Friday, April 24th, 2026. A chief officer arrived first, established command, and Engine 11 (E11) responded immediately.

Firefighters found heavy fire coming from windows, posing an exposure risk to a nearby home.

Crews accessed the scene from the alley, deployed a hose line, and knocked down the fire threatening the adjacent structure before making entry to the building. An aggressive interior attack brought the main body of fire under control. A primary search confirmed no occupants inside. After fire control, potential areas of origin were identified and investigated by command staff. Firefighters later completed overhaul operations, extinguished remaining hot spots, and removed salvageable personal belongings.

The homeowner reported hearing loud noises before noticing smoke and safely evacuated children from a nearby residence before calling 911.

The fire was contained to the structure of origin. No injuries were reported.
