FLORENCE, Colo. — Authorities have released new details regarding a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday in Florence, describing the shooting as an “isolated incident.”

Emergency personnel responded Saturday afternoon to the 100 block of Railroad Street after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered a 40-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite response efforts, the man died from his injuries at the scene.

Officials say the suspected shooter, a 43-year-old woman, was the individual who called 911 to report the incident. She is currently cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities have not disclosed further details at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
