The Colorado State Patrol has confirmed that a Cotopaxi man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 50 late last week
According to investigators, the collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 50 and County Road 61. Troopers say Gregory Sharp, a Cotopaxi resident, was riding a motorcycle when he attempted to pass a pickup driven by a 16-year-old boy. The pickup was in the process of making a left turn onto County Road 61 when the motorcycle tried to overtake it.
Sharp’s motorcycle overturned, throwing him from the bike. He was not wearing a helmet. First responders attempted life-saving measures, but Sharp was pronounced dead at the scene.
The teenage driver of the pickup was not injured, authorities said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.
