An escaped inmate is back in custody following a tense standoff in Colorado Springs on Friday morning.
Authorities say Richard Capek walked away from a community corrections facility in Pueblo on January 30. Capek had been serving a 36-month prison sentence and was scheduled to become eligible for parole in August.
Capek was originally arrested in 2024 on multiple felony warrants. He was also wanted in connection with a residential burglary in Rockvale, where several firearms were reported stolen.
Law enforcement located Capek Friday morning, leading to a standoff before he was taken back into custody. No injuries were reported.
Officials have not yet released additional details about the standoff or any new charges Capek may face
