Colorado’s highways will be plowed next winter by the likes of Snowtorious B.I.G., Darth Blader, Mr. Plow and Plowzilla.
Those are among 20 names various Colorado Department of Transportation snowplows will be christened with—all chosen by Colorado kids.
In March, the state called on elementary school children form across the state to send in submissions for a “Name that Plow” contest. 20 winning names were announced June 2nd, picked from a pool of more than 1,100 entries.
Next fall and winter, be sure to give some space to the newly-named fleet:

- Blizzard
- Cheese Ball
- Darth Blader
- Eisenplower
- Fresh Plowder
- Frosty
- Jack Frost
- Mr. Plow
- Mr. Snowtastic
- No-way Snow-day

Danny “Dan R” Ridenour has been in radio and television broadcasting for over 40 years, starting as a senior in high school in Rogers, Arkansas. His radio career has had stops in Nashville, Memphis, Oklahoma, and eventually, Colorado. Dan enjoys being involved in the community, having been a member of the Upper Arkansas Service Club and is currently on the board of directors for the Salida Community Center and is a member of the Chaffee County Fair Committee. He and his wife Carrie spend their days doing everything the mountains have to offer: hiking, camping, fishing and skiing. They've raised 3 children and have 2 grandchildren.
