Decker Fire Evacuation Point Has Moved [Updated]

Methodist Church Salida

[Updated] The Decker Fire evacuation point at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds has moved.

Evacuees are now asked to go to the Methodist Church at 228 E 4th Street in Salida. The American Red Cross and The Ark Valley Humane Society will have a representative there.

The American Red Cross is reporting that all evacuees have accommodations for the night, so the evacuation shelter will remain open until 8 pm tonight, and then re-open tomorrow morning (Oct. 3) at 7 am for breakfast.

With multiple firefighting crews, vehicles, and equipment coming into the area to help fight the Decker Fire, the Chaffee County Fairgrounds has been turned into a staging area.
