Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has announced a new round of grant funding aimed at helping communities reduce conflicts between humans and bears.
CPW is offering $1 million in grant money through a program designed to support local solutions that prevent human-bear encounters and promote coexistence. Funding is available to local governments, homeowners associations (HOAs), community groups, businesses, and individuals.
The grants can be used for projects that help secure trash and other attractants, improve public education and outreach efforts, and implement other measures that reduce the likelihood of bear conflicts in neighborhoods and public spaces.
Applications are available on the CPW website at cpw.state.co.us, and must be submitted by May 29.
CPW encourages eligible applicants to apply and take advantage of the funding opportunity to help protect both communities and wildlife.
