Chaffee County Public Health Department is reporting 77 new Covid-19 cases in the county in the last 7 days, 137 in the last 14 days, for a 2-week positivity rate of 5.26%.   

As of December 4th, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center had 1 Covid-19 patient and was at 60 percent capacity.     

The San Luis Valley currently has 292 known active Covid-19 cases including 10 in Saguache County and 175 in Alamosa County.  

Chaffee County Public Health continues to offer free Covid-19 testing Monday through Friday in Salida at the Touber Building and Wednesdays in Buena Vista at the Annex.     

Testing is by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled by 4 pm the day before testing is held.  To be screened and scheduled, call Public Health at 539-4510.     

Chaffee County Public Health has launched “Chaffee’s Got HEART.” County residents are encouraged to take the pledge to follow the 5 commitments to containment:   

  • Hang at home if sick.       
  • Excel at handwashing.       
  • Always wear a mask in public.       
  • Respect social distancing.        
  • Test if you have symptoms
