Covid-19 Update: Positive Cases Set Record in Chaffee County

Chaffee County Public Health is reporting 52 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 7 days, 136 in the last 14 days, for a 2-week positivity rate of 8.92%.   

Chaffee County Public Health is hosting a virtual town hall meeting to provide updates and address concerns about current trends of Covid-19 today beginning at 12 noon on Facebook Live.     

Public Health will be joined by representatives from Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Chaffee County Board of Commissioners, Chaffee County Emergency Medical Services, Solvista Health and the school districts. Topics will include the latest with the Covid-19 vaccine and distribution plans, the county’s healthcare system, mental health issues, economic support resources and the Chaffee’s Got HEART campaign.     

The virtual town hall will be available on the Chaffee County Public Health Covid-19 page.     

There are changes to the Chaffee County testing clinics. Chaffee County Public Health will no longer be holding its weekly Covid-19 testing clinic in Buena Vista. For those looking to receive a Covid-19 test in the north end of the county, Valley-Wide Health Systems will now be offering testing Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. Valley-Wide will bill your health insurance. However, if you are uninsured, the test is free. To register for a test in BV through Valley-Wide, call 719-395-8610, and choose the option to speak with a nurse.   

Testing in Salida remains Monday through Friday at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds. Appointments for testing in Salida are now being make online.  Make an appointment the day before testing is held by going to curative.com.   

The Saguache County Courthouse is closed until December 28th. The Saguache County Board of Health has asked courthouse employees to quarantine due to possible Covid-19 exposure. Two county employees, both workers in the courthouse, have tested positive for Covid-19. Saguache County will continue to provide services over the phone.
