Coronavirus Cases Climb in Chaffee County

Chaffee County Public Health is reporting 19 new positive cases of Covid-19 in the last 7 days, 31 in the last 14 days.  

The county’s 2-week positivity rate has jumped to 4.01 percent from 1.72 a week ago.   

Nine of the new cases involves the Department of Corrections in Buena Vista.  

Chaffee County Public Health is hosting a virtual town hall meeting this Friday at noon to provide updates and address concerns about current trends of Covid-19.   

Public Health will be joined by representatives from Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center, Chaffee County Board of Commissioners, Emergency Medical Services, the school districts and Solvista Health.

Fremont County is reporting 99 new cases.   

The San Luis Valley is seeing elevated cases of the coronavirus with 69 active cases, 15 of those in Saguache County.
