Traffic deaths surged in 2021, only to be outpaced in 2022. Preliminary numbers show that 754 lives were lost across Colorado in traffic crash fatalities last year, the most the state has seen in 41 years.
In response, law enforcement leaders covering some of the deadliest roadways across the state are teaming up and sharing their efforts to address these alarming trends within their communities and across the state.
In 2021, 672 people died across Colorado in traffic crashes causing alarm for law enforcement, public officials and Department of Transportation workers. Yet in 2022, the numbers continued to rise hitting a 41-year high of fatalities with 754 deaths in traffic crashes. The Colorado State Patrol and their law enforcement partners will take an unapologetic approach toward enforcement and education to impress the seriousness of Colorado’s current driving environment.
