Chaffee County, Colo. — The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the County Sheriffs of Colorado (CSOC), is accepting applications for a $500 scholarship to support local students pursuing post-secondary education. For the graduates for a deserving Chaffee County student next spring (Spring 2026). CSOC established the scholarship program in 1978. Since then, this effort has continued as a meaningful expression of the Sheriffs’ confidence in and believes that our membership is helping to provide to deserving students with an opportunity to make a positive contribution to society.
The scholarship will be awarded to one student planning to attend a vocational training program or an institution of higher learning within the State of Colorado as either a full-time or part-time student.
Scholarship Applications are available online at www.csoc.org, at the respective schools within Chaffee County or the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office located at 641 West 3rd Street, Salida, Co 81201.
Applicants must submit the following materials no later than March 2 at 5:00 PM:
· A personal letter
· Two letters of reference
· The most recent high school transcript
· Proof of permanent legal residency in Colorado
Applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Sheriff, with the recipient selected based on criteria established by the County Sheriffs of Colorado. Evaluation criteria include leadership, merit, character, community involvement, and career purpose.
