Chaffee County Public Health is alerting residents to brace for potentially steep health insurance premium increases in 2026, following recent federal-level policy changes that are expected to significantly impact plans purchased through Connect for Health Colorado.
While many Coloradans will still qualify for financial support through the Colorado Premium Assistance program, individuals and families earning above 400% of the federal poverty level may not be eligible for assistance. State officials note that final decisions regarding eligibility and program details have not yet been made.
Open enrollment for 2025 coverage is already underway, offering plans that begin on January 1. Residents have until December 15 to enroll.
Chaffee County Public Health encourages anyone with questions, or those needing help navigating their options, to schedule an appointment with a Health Insurance Navigator for personalized assistance.
