The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is urging travelers to prepare for heavy traffic along the Interstate 70 mountain corridor and Highway 285 throughout the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
To help reduce congestion and improve safety, CDOT has announced a suspension of all construction and maintenance work statewide through Monday. However, drivers should still expect to travel through existing work zones, many of which will have reduced speed limits and lane shifts.
CDOT recommends:
- Planning your trip outside of peak travel hours
- Checking real-time road conditions at www.cotrip.org
- Using caution and patience, especially in construction areas
For those heading to the mountains or returning to the Front Range, allow extra travel time and stay alert on the roads.
