The Browns Canyon Fire is listed at two tenths of an acre with no containment. Lightning caused the fire located 3.5 miles southeast of Nathrop within the Browns Canyon Wilderness Area. Firefighters are actively assessing the conditions.
According to the Bureau of Land Management Facebook page, fire behavior remains low, with smoldering/creeping progress through a predominantly ponderosa pine forest. While the fire currently poses little risk to life or property, it is located in steep, rugged and inaccessible terrain, creating significant safety challenges for firefighters.
There is a high probability of monsoonal moisture moving into the fire area over the next 2 days which could help further moderate fire activity. At this time, there are no anticipated impacts to life, property, or recreation in the area. However, smoke may be visible from surrounding communities & travel corridors.
