The Broncos lost to the 49ers 24-14 yesterday. They also lost both of their starting cornerbacks. Riley Moss and Patrick Surtain II were each injured in the first half of the game Sunday.
Denver’s defense held San Francisco to three points on the first seven drives as unseasonably hot temperatures prevailed. The 49ers scored touchdowns on three straight drives in the second half, sealing the win at 24-14.
Surtain went down late in the first half with a noncontact injury to his right ankle. According to ESPN, early reports of his injury indicate that his Achilles tendon is intact and he has avoided a worst-case scenario. He is undergoing further medical evaluations.
Riley Moss suffered a rib injury early in the game and was unable to return. Kris Abrams-Draine and Jahdae Barron stepped in as the outside cornerbacks. In a 9news interview, Alex Singleton said, “I thought the young guys stepped up and did a good job, they played exactly how you want them to play when a guy goes down like that. You’ve got to have guys that are ready, and thankfully we’ve talked about that a ton and they were both ready to play football.”
Up next, Denver is on the road to take on the Chargers this Sunday afternoon.
