Chaffee County, CO (November 14, 2025) — The Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF), and the Central Mountain Small Business Development Center, is pleased to announce the 2026 Community Awards, designed to recognize and honor individuals, businesses, and organizations that make a meaningful difference in Chaffee County.
Nominations are now open through December 15 — community members are encouraged to submit their nominations today.
About the 2026 Community Awards
The awards ceremony will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds. The evening will feature inspiring stories of local impact, award presentations, and opportunities to connect with fellow community-members. Learn more at www.chaffeecommunity.org/communityawards. Award Categories
The Community Awards cover three organizing institutions and multiple distinct recognition categories. Community members are invited to nominate individuals who embody the qualifications for each award at www.chaffeecommunity.org/communityawards.
Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce
- Cornerstone Award: Recognizes an individual who exemplifies long-term community support and dedication, serving as a foundational “cornerstone” of Chaffee County.
- Business of the Year: Selected by the Chamber Board, this award honors a business that stands out in the community.
- Wanted Award: Selected by the Vaqueros, this honors a highly-valued community member whose contributions make them indispensable.
Central Mountain Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
- Entrepreneur Awards: Recognizes two businesses in Chaffee County that embody the spirit of entrepreneurship by overcoming challenges, pursuing growth, and providing distinctive services or products. One award goes to a business in North Chaffee County; the other goes to a business in South Chaffee County.
Chaffee County Community Foundation (CCCF)
- Volunteer of the Year: Honours an individual whose volunteer efforts demonstrate dedication, innovation, and leadership in the nonprofit sector.
- Philanthropist of the Year: Recognizes a donor whose generosity has significantly impacted Chaffee County through financial support and inspiring others to engage in philanthropy.
- Organization of the Year: Highlights a nonprofit organization delivering high-impact programming and innovative solutions to meet critical community needs.
How to Nominate
Community members may submit nominations for deserving individuals, businesses, or organizations via the online nomination form. Nominations are accepted now through December 15, 2025. Please note that the volume of nominations are not factored into the decision making process, which focused on the specific qualities and experiences of each candidate.
About the Organizers
The awards are a partnership between the Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce, the Chaffee County Community Foundation, and the Colorado Small Business Development Center serving the Central Mountain Region— all dedicated to fostering community growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing quality of life in Chaffee County.
