Moderate to heavy smoke from multiple wildfires burning across Colorado is impacting air quality in Chaffee County today. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued an Air Quality Alert for our area due to elevated smoke levels.
To help residents monitor air quality in real-time, Chaffee County Public Health has launched a local Purple Air Quality Monitoring program. Four monitors have been strategically installed to provide up-to-date readings and public health recommendations:
📍 Poncha Springs Town Hall
📍 Touber Building, Salida
📍 Buena Vista Annex on Linderman Avenue
📍 Chaffee County Road & Bridge Offices, Buena Vista
You can check current air quality conditions by visiting purpleair.com. The site provides data on particulate concentrations across our region, the state, and the nation.
⚠️ Sensitive populations—such as children, the elderly, and those with respiratory or heart conditions—should limit outdoor activities when smoke is present.
