One motorcyclist is dead after a crash took place on US 24 near Granite on Sunday afternoon.

67 year old Stephen Elk of Florida was westbound on Highway 24 when his Indian motorcycle drifted into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder being driven by 34 year old Adrian Lagunas of Roswell, NM. Elk was pronounced dead at the scene, while Lagunas and his six passengers had minor injuries which required no treatment.

The accident is still under investigation, but the CSP does not think alcohol or excessive speed were contributing factors. The crash closed the highway for about five hours.
