The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) has incorporated a new technology tool that supports community
parole officers (CPOs) with their caseloads. According to the CDOC press release, the Recidiviz’s Meetings module is a 501(c)(3) technology nonprofit active in 19 states building software for criminal justice agencies.

CDOC will use this technology to streamline administrative processes, support staff, and make better-informed decisions. The Meetings tool gives officers the client-specific information they need to prepare for each meeting, drafts detailed and accurate case notes, and provides feedback that helps CPOs continuously improve.

The tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly to reduce manual paperwork so officers can spend more time supporting people under their supervision. Importantly, the Meetings tool does not make parole decisions, determine supervision levels, or recommend enforcement actions. Those responsibilities remain with CDOC’s trained parole professionals, who continue to rely on their experience, expertise, and professional judgment. Officers must review, edit, and approve all draft notes for accuracy before they become part of the official record.

CDOC will continue evaluating the Meetings tool, incorporating officer feedback, and prioritizing responsible AI use while keeping public safety and successful reintegration at the center of its work.
