Ernest (Ernie) David Macnab, a loving and caring father, brother, and son, of Nathrop, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026, after a years-long battle with cancer, at the age of 58.

Ernie was born in Toledo, Ohio, on September 23, 1968, to David and Elaine Macnab. After graduating, he became an integral part of the family business. In 1991, he and his growing family moved to Buena Vista with their extended family. He spent his working career at Valley Home Furnishings, where he perfected his exceptional skills as a flooring installer. Ernie was recognized and appreciated for his precision and talent. This legacy will now be carried out by his son, Colin.

Ernie loved spending time outdoors. Skiing, snowmobiling, and hiking with his dogs were among his favorite activities. He also enjoyed traveling back to Ohio periodically to spend time boating and water skiing on Lake Erie. In more recent years, Ernie made a special effort to attend his many grandchildren’s birthday parties and sporting events, even while facing numerous health challenges. One of these challenges resulted in Ernie losing his hearing. Throughout it all, he maintained a remarkably positive and determined attitude.

Ernie is preceded in death by his mother Elaine Macnab. Ernie is survived by his four children: Colin (Cheyenne), Alisa (Zak), Alana, and Chase; his eight grandchildren: Ben, Cooper, Zoe, Paige, David, Kacee, Rainy, and Paisley; and his two beloved dogs, Hubert and Sonya.

His Christian faith brought comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus. Though he will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing he is in loving arms. His faith reminds us that death is not the end.
