The Bureau of Land Management is reporting that firefighters continue to monitor the Browns Canyon Fire. Lightning caused the incident reported on July 27th about 3.5 miles southeast of Nathrop in the Browns Canyon National Monument. The fire is listed at 1.5 acres.
Over the weekend, a helicopter made additional water drops while firefighters remain in the area assessing conditions. The fire is burning in steep, rocky and difficult to access terrain, making it challenging for firefighters to reach.
Fire behavior and the potential for spread remain low. Smoke and firefighting aircraft may be visible. There here are currently no anticipated impacts to life, property or recreation.
Firefighters will continue to monitor the fire daily until there is no longer a concern.
