Lake County has joined Chaffee County, Park County, and Fremont County in implementing Stage 2 Fire Restrictions due to extreme wildfire danger.
Under Stage 2 Fire Restrictions:
- No open fires may be built, maintained, or attended.
- All campfires are prohibited, including those in permanent fire rings and fire pits.
- Explosive targets and any incendiary devices that could ignite flammable materials are also prohibited.
LP gas and liquid-fueled stoves or appliances equipped with an on-and-off valve remain permitted under the restrictions.
Officials are urging residents and visitors to use extreme caution as hot, dry, and windy conditions continue to create a high risk of wildfire across central Colorado.
