The Willow Fire continues to grow in Lake County. As of last night, the wildfire had burned more than 1,000 acres.

The fire started Sunday in the Mount Massive Wilderness and has prompted mandatory evacuation orders for residents along County Road 4 east of County Roads 9D, 9, 5A, 48, and 99.

Mandatory evacuations have also been issued for all trails accessed from the Leadville National Fish Hatchery, as well as all campgrounds surrounding Turquoise Lake.

Pre-evacuation notices have been issued for residents in the Grand West area, Mountain View East and West, Turquoise Lake Estates, the Silver Hills subdivision, and homes along County Roads 9, 17, and 4.

Officials have established the Colorado Mountain College Leadville Campus gymnasium as the evacuation center for displaced residents.

Firefighters continue working to contain the blaze as hot, dry, and windy conditions challenge suppression efforts. Residents are urged to remain alert and follow evacuation orders and updates from local emergency officials.
