The Park County Sheriff’s Office issued mandatory evacuation orders yesterday in response to a wildfire burning along County Road 62 outside Grant.

The evacuation order applies to the Bruno Gulch Campground.

As of last night, the fire had grown to approximately three acres, and officials said no homes or other structures were threatened. Firefighters are facing difficult conditions because the blaze is burning in steep, rugged terrain that is challenging to access.

The United States Forest Service has ordered aerial firefighting resources to assist with suppression efforts.

On Tuesday, Park County joined Chaffee County in implementing Stage 2 Fire Restrictions, which prohibit all open flames due to the elevated wildfire danger.

Meanwhile, Colorado’s largest active wildfire remains the Dry Creek Fire in Garfield County. The fire, burning south of Rifle, has scorched approximately 315 acres and destroyed two structures.
