The United States Forest Service is inviting the public to participate in volunteer workdays, trail cleanups, and other outdoor activities in celebration of National Trails Day this Saturday.

National Trails Day was established by the American Hiking Society in 1993 and is observed annually on the first Saturday in June. The event encourages people to enjoy, maintain, and support trails and public lands across the country.

To mark the occasion, the Forest Service is also designating Saturday, June 6th as a recreation fee-free day. Visitors will be able to access all standard amenity recreation sites on Forest Service lands at no cost.

Officials encourage the public to take advantage of the fee-free day by exploring public lands, participating in stewardship projects, and helping maintain trails for future visitors.
