The U.S. Forest Service is inviting public comment on a proposed project that would allow Monarch Mountain to expand into the existing Upper/Paradise parking lot and reroute the current access road serving the area.
According to project details, construction would involve excavating the existing parking lot and lowering the surface by approximately 15 feet to create a new parking area. The expansion is expected to add around 260 parking spaces to accommodate increasing visitor demand.
The deadline to submit public comments is Wednesday.
