An emergency public fish salvage has been authorized at Antero Reservoir as officials prepare for a planned drawdown of the reservoir.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced the measure in response to Denver Water’s plans to drain the reservoir, a move that could result in significant fish loss if no action is taken.
Effective immediately, all bag and possession limits for every fish species at Antero Reservoir have been lifted. This temporary policy will remain in place through May 13, giving anglers the opportunity to salvage fish ahead of the drawdown.
After that date, Denver Water will close public access to the reservoir as drainage operations move forward.
