Following treacherous winter weather earlier this week and a series of crashes reported statewide, the Colorado Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that winter driving conditions are far from over.
Despite an otherwise dry season, officials say a fast-moving weather system is expected to sweep across the state today, bringing hazardous road conditions, particularly over high mountain passes.
CDOT is emphasizing that compliance with Colorado’s Traction and Chain Laws is mandatory for public safety, not optional. Drivers are also reminded that posted speed limits apply only under ideal conditions. When weather and road conditions deteriorate, motorists are expected to reduce their speed accordingly.
