Families in Chaffee County will soon have access to a free, supportive parenting resource designed to strengthen families and enrich children’s lives. Beginning in January 2026, the Nurturing Parenting Class will be offered weekly in Poncha Springs, providing parents and caregivers with practical tools to build healthy, empathetic relationships with their children .

The class is open to all parents and caregivers of children from birth to 11 years old and focuses on fostering positive family connections in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. Sessions will cover essential topics such as parenting with empathy, child development, building strong family bonds, and nurturing discipline techniques—all aimed at supporting children’s emotional and developmental well-being .

To reduce common barriers to participation, the program is completely free and includes dinner and childcare for attendees. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from January 14 through April 8, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at 330 Burnett Avenue in Poncha Springs .

Community members are encouraged to pre-register to secure a spot in the program. Additional information and registration details are available through Chaffee County Human Services’ Family & Youth Initiatives webpage. Those with questions may also contact Marjorie Jennings at 719-530-2535 .

This free parenting class represents an important investment in local families, supporting parents today while helping children thrive tomorrow.
