BV School Board Hosts Info Meeting Tonight on Mill Levy and Bond Proposal

The Buena Vista Board of Education is holding a community information meeting tonight from 7pm to 8pm at the BV School District Board Room, located at 113 N. Court Street.

Meeting Topics:

• Bond Extension: The district is asking voters to extend an existing bond to complete key projects outlined in the Master Facility Plan—with no tax increase.
• Mill Levy Proposal: Voters will also be asked to approve a mill levy override to increase funding for teacher and staff salaries.
  • The goal is to raise starting teacher salaries to $50,000 by 2027, up from $42,000 currently.
  • The proposed levy would generate $975,000 annually, supporting cost-of-living adjustments and retention efforts.
