Alamosa Police credit citizens and workers at the Alamosa Walmart store for saving a young child from being kidnapped.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the Walmart Thursday, Feb. 11th, on reports of an attempted kidnapping in progress. Police arrived and learned that a woman grabbed a young child from a shopping cart and tried to flee.
Police said that citizens and store staff were able to restrain the woman until police arrived, and the child was reunited with their parents.
It isn’t clear if the suspect knew the victim. 50-year-old Kimberli Jones of Blanca was taken into custody and booked into the Alamosa County Detention Center on charges of Kidnapping, felony menacing, child abuse and disorderly conduct.
