Herbert Lucas Scott, who is facing sexual assault charges in District Court, has been appointed a new attorney.
The Alternative Defense Counsel has appointed attorney Julia Stancil of Denver to represent Scott. Scott’s former defense attorney, Ernie Marquez, withdrew from the case on September 21st after Scott’s first trial in August ended in a mistrial.
Scott’s next trial was to be a three-week trial that was set to begin on November 28th. Stancil told District Judge Patrick Murphy that she could not possibly be ready by that date. A hearing has been scheduled for November 14th to discuss the timeline for Scott’s multiple upcoming trials.
