The Decker Fire has grown to an estimated 5,824 acres.
458 firefighting personnel are currently working the fire. The Chaffee County Fairgrounds is serving as the command post.
The main areas of concern for firefighters are the homes in the area and the communication towers on top of Methodist Mountain.
Fire has reached at least one structure in Fremont County but details of damage and what kind of structure was damaged has not been released. Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze says no structures have been damaged in Chaffee County.
Good progress is said to be made in the area from Boot Hill to Bear Creek where firelines are holding.
A total of 130 homes remain under evacuation orders. The evacuation center is located at the Methodist Church at 228 East 4th Street. Evacuees are being urged to check in at the church, officials want to make sure everyone is accounted for.
The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office is saying that those affected by the evacuations that if you are in need of retrieving medications or animals from your property within the evacuation zone, please call Chaffee County dispatch center at 719-539-2596 and they will assist you in coordinating with the command center to be escorted into the area.
There are multiple road closures around the Decker Fire area in Chaffee, Fremont and Saguache Counties. Chaffee County Roads 104, 107, and 110 above County Road 111 are closed to traffic going up to Methodist Mountain.
