A Durango judge granted a mistrial yesterday regarding a murder case from 2012 involving a father accused of killing his teenage son.
Defense attorneys for Mark Redwine requested that the judge grant a mistrial because members of their legal team have Covid-19 symptoms. After a brief deliberation, a mistrial was granted.
The judge released an order stating that “the Court has no choice but to declare a mistrial to ensure that Mr. Redwine has effective assistance of counsel.”
Dylan Redwine went missing in 2012 after going to his father’s house in Vallecito for a court ordered visit. Investigators found Dylan’s remains near Redwine’s home.
As for what happens next in the case, a conference is scheduled for this Friday in which attorneys and the judge will discuss where the case goes from here.
