A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for most of Colorado’s mountains due to heavy snow, strong winds, and dangerous wind chills.

Expect moderate to heavy snow across the mountains with total accumulations of up to two feet possible. Winds could gust as high as 75 mph causing extensive blowing and drifting snow. Motorists are likely to encounter difficult travel conditions in the mountains for the next several days. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause damage.

An arctic airmass will move into Colorado Friday night, dropping temperatures into the single digits through Monday, Jan. 15th. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
