Bureau of Land Management and Forest Service personnel continue to monitor the Browns Canyon Fire, located 3.5 miles southeast of Nathrop within the Browns Canyon Wilderness Area. The fire remains at two tenths of an acre with no containment. Officials say that fire behavior remains low and currently poses little risk to life or property. Smoke will be visible from surrounding communities.
The Rio Blanco Fire near Pagosa Springs has grown to 440 acres with no containment. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered in the area.
The Aspen Acres Fire in Custer, Pueblo, Fremont, and Huerfano counties has burned 102,000 acres with containment at 66%. Flooding closed Highway 165 near Isabel yesterday, Highway 78 near Beulah was also closed due to flooding.
The Willow Fire in Lake County west of Leadville is almost 7,200 acres with 66% containment. Firefighters continue to make progress around the perimeter.
The Gold Mountain Fire burning in Montrose, Ouray and Gunnison counties is just over 39,000 acres with 62% containment.
Stage 2 Fire Restrictions remain in effect for all public and private lands in Chaffee, Park, Lake, Saguache and Fremont Counties.
Custer County has moved to Stage 3 Fire Restrictions. The highest level.
