Wildfires Update – August 18th

Hazy and smokey conditions continue due to the wildfires burning in other parts of the state.   

The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert.   

The Grizzly Creek Fire is now listed at 26,000 acres with no containment. 

I 70 through Glenwood Canyon remains closed in both directions. Detours will continue to bring motorist through our area on U.S. 24, Highway 285 and Highway 50.   

The Pine Gulch Fire burning 18-miles north of Grand Junction has grown to just over 86,000 acres. Containment remains at 7 percent. 

The Cameron Peak Fire is burning in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest near Cameron Pass and Chambers lake, is listed today at over 13,000 acres.   

The Williams Fork Fire in the Arapaho National Forest in Grand County 15 miles northwest of Fraser, CO., has grown to over 6,600 acres and is 0 percent contained.     

Fire restrictions are being implemented across the state as hot, dry weather continues with relative humidities in the single digits.
