The Summit County Sheriff’s Office issued a mandatory evacuation near Silverthorne due to an active wildfire.

Last night, the sheriff’s office ordered an evacuation for the Hamilton Creek area above Silverthorne. Angler Mountain and the South 40 neighborhoods are at pre-evacuation status.

The fire north of Silverthorne grew to 30 acres last night. Air and additional ground firefighters will arrive today.

Chaffee, Fremont, Park, Saguache and Lake Counties have moved into Stage I Fire Restrictions.

Still allowed under Stage I restrictions: Campfires within a permanent constructed fire ring in a developed public campground, gas or liquid fueled stoves, fireplaces within enclosed buildings and charcoal grill fires at private residences.

The fire ban also prohibits the burning of debris piles, slash piles, ditches and agricultural lands.
