A Fremont County resident has tested positive for the West Nile virus.

According to the Fremont County Health department, a horse in the county has also tested positive for the virus.

The West Nile virus is primarily spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms can include flu-like symptoms, and in rare cases, death. Most West Nile cases in Colorado occur during the months of August and September.
