A variety of music, recreation, education, and safety-focused events are taking place around the region this weekend and into early next week.
Live Music at the SteamPlant
Salida’s Next Last Waltz and Tenderfoot Health Collective present Grateful Como Va with two shows tonight and tomorrow night at Salida’s SteamPlant Event Center.
The concerts feature Santa Rios, a Santana tribute band, and Roundhouse Assembly, a Grateful Dead tribute band. Shows begin at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are $30 at the door or $25 in advance at salidasteamplant.com.
Telefestivus at Monarch Mountain
Monarch Mountain will host Telefestivus this Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The annual event celebrates telemark skiing with races, clinics, and equipment demos. The day wraps up with live music, awards, and giveaways.
TABOR Forum on Monday
The League of Women Voters of Chaffee County is hosting an open forum on the Colorado Taxpayer Bill of Rights (TABOR) on Monday from noon to 1 p.m.
The forum will feature the Colorado Fiscal Institute, which will discuss the current state of Colorado’s tax and budget system and considerations for the future. The event will be held at the Salida Methodist Church, 228 East 4th Street.
Super Bowl Weekend DUI Enforcement
The Colorado Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to plan for a sober ride home this weekend. The Colorado State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies are participating in “The Heat Is On” Super Bowl Weekend DUI enforcement period. Drivers can expect saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints aimed at keeping impaired drivers off the roads.
