In Salida and Buena Vista, expect plenty of sun with afternoon highs reaching near 70 degrees. Winds will start light out of the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph, shifting to the west-southwest and picking up slightly to 10 to 15 mph later in the day.

Over in the San Luis Valley, sunshine continues with a slightly cooler high near 65 degrees. Winds will come from the south-southwest at 5 to 15 mph, adding just a bit of a breeze to an otherwise calm day.

For higher elevations like Leadville and Fairplay, it will still be sunny but cooler, with highs around 50 degrees. Winds begin light and variable, becoming west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph through the morning.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the start of the week, conditions begin to shift. By Wednesday and Thursday, stronger winds are expected to develop as the next storm system approaches from the west. This could bring critical fire weather conditions, so it’s something to keep an eye on if you have outdoor plans.
