The Biden administration announced yesterday that it is increasing the weekly vaccine supply sent to states to 10.5 million doses nationwide.

That is a 22% increase since January 20.

The White House also revealed that the first phase of the administration’s pharmacy program will launch next week.

Starting February 11, the federal government will deliver vaccines directly to select pharmacies across the country. The White House said, “This will provide more sites for people to be vaccinated in their communities and it’s an important component to delivering vaccines equitably.”

The White House also wanted to set appropriate expectations, saying “Due to the current supply constraints, this will be limited when it begins next week. In this first phase of the program, supply will only be at about 6,500 stores nationwide before expanding.”

For those wanting to sign up to be vaccinated, you should first meet the state’s standards for eligibility and then check availability on their local pharmacy’s website.

This action is part of Biden’s goal of administering 100 million shots in 100 days and expanding access to vaccines to more Americans in the coming weeks.

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center is hosting a Covid-19 community vaccination clinic Friday at the Chaffee County Fairgrounds. This vaccination clinic is available to healthcare workers, first responders and people 70 and older.

An online scheduler is available to schedule your appointment, hrrmcvaccines.rsvpify.com

For anyone with challenges with getting online, a phone number is available for troubleshooting issues at 719-530-2479.

Chaffee County Public Health invites adults aged 65-69 to register for any open slots from February 8th onward.  In the coming days, Chaffee County Public Health will be adding days and slots to its clinic schedule as long as they are confident that there will be adequate vaccine inventory.

Frontline essential workers and Coloradans ages 16-64 with two or more high-risk conditions will be able to start getting vaccinated in early March.

The online scheduler can be found at chaffeecounty.rsvpify.com.  If the scheduler is full, check back frequently.
