You are being asked to use caution in the backcountry. This warning comes after a Seattle woman was killed in an avalanche over the weekend in Ouray County.
She was killed when a chunk of ice broke off a ledge and triggered the avalanche. 44-year-old Van Le Little had been climbing on the Dungeon Ice Climbing route when she was caught in the slide and swept into the Uncompahgre River.
The avalanche danger across the state is being rated as “moderate.”
